1.8 meters sees ~4.8km. Standing on top of a car, on someone else’s shoulders, at say, 5 meters, would give you eight kilometers.
Granted, not too drastic yeah. But like, if you have a tree, and climb it, and it’s, say, 15 meters. Now you can see ~14 kilometers.
I’d say going from ~5 to ~14 by climbing a tree (or a mast of a ship) is pretty significant, but not drastic, I’d agree to that, yeah.
I wonder how much it was an advantage at sea, really. Like the scout at the top of your mast would be able to see the enemy ship from very far, while the enemies would technically be able to see only the mast of the ship that the scout is on, making it much harder to spot. I’m sure someone’s written about it in tedious length. An upvote to anyone who finds me such texts.

Some people don’t go bald with age, not really. Is it so hard to believe? None of my grandparents or parents have had any bald spots, grandma from mom’s side having a thic-ass braid halfway down her back.
He’s aged pretty well, but not amazingly. Also, people underestimate how much hair is needed to look like that with good products. Arguably he might have thinner hair than he did when he was in Trainspotting, but it certainly doesn’t look it the way he wears it

Not everyone has male pattern baldness. My dad didn’t have a bald spot when he died, and none of my grandparents have either. Although half of them are dead as well.
But yeah, if you do have shitty genes for hair, you can fix it with money.
I don’t want to check miles, but it’s pretty on point with what I remember, which is the horizon being 5km away for a 180cm (~6ft) tall person. (3 miles is close enough to 5km)

The elderberry-strawberry thing actually tasted refreshing. I don’t drink any other drinks like that. I’ve tried, but I’ve just not enjoyed a single one outside of that, pretty much. They all have that sort of beany aftertaste. It’s not bad, but it’s not too enjoyable for me.
Oatly had this strawberry-elderflower sort of drink and then it stopped being made / imported.
It was so fucking good, and I just don’t enjoy the other flavours as much.
