My current microwave has too damn complicated controls and is full of unnecessary features for me to actually know how to adjust the power so I just go with full power, with 30 second increments because I don’t have the degree necessary to understand anything else. It’s like trying to fly a damn airplane, except worse.
My old microwave had just two dials: one for time, one for power. That was the peak of microwave technology and we should all go back to it. A microwave doesn’t need to do ANYTHING else than just shoot fucking radiation to anything that is put inside it, I don’t know why the hell do they add all these random buttons and just add a picture of a fucking carrot or some shit on it like it’s universally understood what that even fucking means.
I just use the same power setting for everything. It’s not like my shitty microwave is consistent enough for it to matter.
CHEF MIKE!
I have never learned how to change the microwave power setting, and now I am too afraid to try it
I always microwave on low power with longer cook time. Prevents cold spots and burnt spots
I set the power to 50% and then double the cooking time. Takes longer but everything turns out better.
I do the same thing!
I put it on full power until part of it starts boiling, then reduce power to low until it’s heated through.
It just turns off the element that emits the waves for a percentage of the time so the heat has a chance to spread out more evenly. My problem is that I skim the instructions for the time, miss that it says medium power, and burn my item to a crisp on accident.
I think the active component in a Microwave Oven is called the Magnetron, not the element. Both are usually turned on and off for partial power though.
Usually there’s a button right next to the numbers or start button that’s for cook power.
It’s only a one time thing, it doesn’t save either.
Mine you need to press tge power settings until the desired power (start in 10 and go down up to 1), then press the time as usual and start.
I wish they had some kind of iron chef for microwaves.
Right? Just throw them into some random person’s apartment with whatever ingredients they’ve got on hand.
