Got it. Illuminate to illuminate.
Instructions unclear. Used my phone to light up the wick but nothing happened.
Yeah. 11th gen Framework 13, so one of the first ones. Since I got it I had to use Windows exclusively because of some client work, and battery life was pitiful. 2-3 hours perhaps? Once that project finished I swapped out the SSD and put on Ubuntu with KDE. I was expecting the batter life to be worse, but it is demonstrably better. I now get more like 6 hours, albeit with my power plan on efficiency.
Switching from Windows to Linux on my Framework laptop makes my battery last 2-3 times as long. They should just have a switch to Linux recommendation to reduce your carbon footprint.
“These counterfeit phones, Cohen said, were either out of warranty or contained counterfeit parts, but Apple “wrongly” believed that they were real phones under real warranties”
So not counterfeit. Just real iPhones that were out of warranty or has been repaired by a third party.
I just went cold turkey because I can’t/won’t watch content with ads, and already felt the cost of our streaming services was too much for what we get out of it.
What I’ve found myself doing is if I do buy from Amazon and it’s below the free shipping amount, I try and buy from a marketplace seller who ships themselves for free. Often this ends up matching the Prime price, but it’s buried further down the result because it doesn’t have Prime shipping. Or I buy the same product via eBay, which is mostly cheaper. But main thing is, I’ve found I just buy less. Like A LOT less. As a family we’d often get 3 or 4 Amazon deliveries a week. That’s not been replaced with orders from other retailers. It’s almost as if having Prime encourages you to buy stuff you maybe don’t need!
We are halfway through it!
I unsubscribed in January and still have too much stuff to watch. Although that is helped by being in the UK and having iPlayer I guess. I’ve also spent way less on impulse buying crap because of the free shipping. Absolutely do not miss Prime.
Unfortunately you have to follow a link to twitter and look through jburnmurdoch’s posts. But it’s down 30% in a year.
It’s mostly reviews, previews, short features and interviews. Quite traditional. Issues 1 and 2 are free to download as PDFs on their website if you want to check them out.
I find about 20-25% of Retrogamer still worth reading. I wonder if it’s as much because it feels like they are retreading old ground or dredging up obscure and not especially interesting content.
Sadly Wireframe is no more, that was my favourite magazine of the last few years… I enjoy Switch Player and Debug Magazine, but these are both boutique low run mags that you need to order directly. I don’t rate the mainstream gaming magazines much, to be honest.
Does your local library membership include electronic magazines via an app like PressReader? Mine does and there are a ton of free magazines of all genres. In general they have the last three months worth of issues and it might help you find one you like before you buy a paper copy (if indeed that’s your style). Subscriptions are nearly always massively cheaper than buying in the shops.
I particularly enjoy Uncut, as being the best of all the music magazines IMHO. One of the only ones I read cover to cover is Linux Format. And I have a subscription to Retrogamer, but to be honest that’s not very good anymore and I won’t be renewing it.
They’re always doing this pish. I once accidentally bought one that had popping candy in it and it was boke.
Things that Liz Truss thinks are equivalent:
“Far left” activists unveiling poster of a googlyeye lettuce.
Far right activists burning down hotels housing refuges; looting bakeries for sausage rolls.
The Lidl is 500m away. It’s just too far. Almost did my back in carrying the pizza oven home.
Not to boast, but we have an Aldi, Greggs, M&S Food, Food Warehouse, Home Bargains, Poundland, and Costa all within 300m of the house. Living the dream.
Back from a “holiday” to the Highlands. Lots of driving around between nice wee towns and incredible landscapes. But the real win is that I have just dossed around the house all weekend, and the car hasn’t moved since Friday. Of course, there’s next to no food on the house, but I feel chill af.
We have quite a few in our garden (in Scotland) although I know them as verbascums, self-seeded along with foxgloves. They can get huge. Love them.
Last time I was on The Big Island (which was a while ago) there was a tourist in front of us standing on the dried lava with shorts and flip-flops.
