They are pretty expensive for the hardware.
Unless I’m misremembering don’t they charge flagship prices but have midrange specs?
I don’t want to say the country, but when I went with my wife for me to get residency via marriage, this is how it went.
Immigration Officer: Do you have any questions? Me: No Immigration Officer: Sign here and come back in a month with your passport to implement the visa Me: Uhh… That’s it? OK Bye.
Just in case anyone is not reading the article. It’s just saying that manufactures can only make new computers with intel 11th gen cpus or later.
I think this is kind of a good thing, that way companies can’t sell old cpus to people who don’t know any better.
Additionally, I read somewhere else that they added some extra AMD CPU’s that were not there before.
I know that I should, and I’m technical enough to understand it. But the point I was making is that many people are not even close to technically proficient to learning it.
I just don’t know how to use databases like those, so I just use excel for my small business.
I’d like to see them ban Microsoft azure, aws, or whatever Google calls it. Not to mention the numerous smaller providers.
Italians will just pay with crypto to get around payment bans.
I agree with you, I think that issue can be handled if they make her a great martial arts fighter.
But she can’t just magically know it, there has to be a reason why she knows how to fight, but that applies to men too.
Why? A lot of people specifically do not use Linux for this reason. Like it or not, those apps are ingrained in the business world.
People are not going to sacrifice their income to use Linux. That is why I have a second computer just for windows for work.
If it weren’t for that, I could just use one computer with 2 user accounts.
We, long-time users of Linux, all have our opinions based on various preferences. The thing is that a lot of these preferences are pretty technical, like Ubuntu having snaps, Fedora and Mints’ flat pak policies, etc…
For the average user, they will not know what this is or even see a difference between the systems at first. The linux community would do better if we could have a unified front on distro recommendations. People will switch distros as they learn and their curiosity grows.
I think, we should ask people to pick based on their DE preference. If they want something like windows, let them have Mint or Kubuntu, if they want something closer to mac, let them have Ubuntu. I say this as someone who likes Fedora Plasma spin.
Everything else, is just information overload and will give users decision paralysis.
Our goal should be conversion of users. Once our numbers start growing, then things will pickup. Just imagine if we had office and adobe products here. How many people would be able to switch. I still use windows on my work computer as there is a single app holding me back.
I do not have a problem with a female lead in a show. One thing that may be overlooked her is when they make a movie with a female lead and make a bad movie.
My wife watches a lot of spy, military action type movies. A lot of the time, the stories are poorly written and cheesy when they put a female lead in the show.
One example of this was a movie where the girls dad who died was CIA. His daughter somehow ends up involved in some CIA thing and is able to survive the whole thing even though she has no formal training. So, while this issue occurs with male leads, there are fewer movies like this with female leads so it may look like there is a higher percentage of movies with female leads that people do not like.
Look at the movies with female leads that are great, (Almost anything with Michelle Yeoh), Star Trek Discovery, Star Trek Lower Decks, hidden figures, Alien, Zero Dark Thirty. I am sure there are more that I can’t think of.
I think that the female lead may get blamed for a bad movie, or people just don’t like bad movies and it is assumed it is because it is a female lead.
I love plasma. I used to be into cinnamon, but since the steamdeck, I’ve changed my preference.
Now, I have fedoranplasma spin on my thinkpad.
I really like the windows style DE.
I think what he is referring to is reports that companies were raising prices higher than the rate of inflation as a way to increase profits. They would then blame inflation even though inflation was lower than the rate that they raised prices.
And yet, sadly, there are only like 5 people in my entire contact list who use it.
What a shame…
Ohh, gotcha. Yeah. Just enable flathub for him. It’s super simple, but I’m sure you know that.
Why remove flatpak?
If your flatmate is new to Linux, it will probably be helpful.
If he is using the gnome de, then install whatever extensions you need to give the windows a minimized button, or point him towards the plasma spin.
I’m surprised how well my thinkpad was supported in the Fedora plasma spin. Everything just worked out of the box. No drivers were needed. Even the fingerprint reader works.
I thought it would just be for login, but even terminal will use it when I need to sudo.
How awesome!
What about Intel? I’ve been trying to get hardware acceleration on Firefox all day yesterday with no luck.
Can you elaborate on the differences?
I learned this after moving out of the US. I live in a third world country now and I feel more free here than I ever have in the US.
One example of this is that the traffic sucks here. Like its always crawling and slow, but the flip side is that you do not feel like you are constantly being hunted by police. Sometimes, not following the rules is what makes the most sense to reduce traffic and that is completely OK here.
There are many other examples, but off the top of my head that is what I thought of.
