Not quite the full history. Poggers was based on PogChamp. PogChamp was a Twitch emote, of Street Fighter player/content creator Gootecks from when he and Mike Ross did a silly video bit playing pogs by dropping a fight stick on it.

PogChamp was used a ton on Twitch (and other creators made their own versions of the face), until Gootecks kinda got problematic with his remarks on Jan 6th (and other stuff like alternative health and COVID disbelief). I think they replaced his face with a number of other reactions that also fit the bill?

  • Honestly, avoiding the all feed may be better for my enjoyment of the platform. On Reddit I used to just sub to my specific interests and never interacted or saw all the politics talk or general memes. When I moved here, most communities were too quiet for it to take up the same spot for me, so I started browsing by all instead.

I’ll give it a shot, thank you for the reminder/realization.

  • Number was plucked out of my ass. But sure, let’s look at a redwood and see when they start reproducing.

The Sierra Redwood can reproduce sexually (seeds in cones) as early as 24 years old, but one source I found said that seeds are usually not high-quality until the tree is 200+ years old. It also takes about a 2-year maturation period within the cone before being ready for planting. Other types of redwoods can reproduce asexually, which may have an effect on the rate of expression of the mutated genes.

  • To be more specific, there are 4 time zones in the contiguous 48 states: Pacific, Mountain, Central, and Eastern. Alaska is also one hour behind Pacific, and Hawaii (usually) one hour behind Alaskan. But Hawaii also doesn’t observe daylight savings time.

This also doesn’t account for how some states (like Arizona) don’t observe DST while Navajo Nation (in Arizona) does, while Hopi land (surrounded by Navajo) doesn’t.

    Time is confusing.

  • As others have said, the Actions menu has a shortcut to saved posts, whether you make it part of your bottom bar or Floating Action Button.

Another neat trick is that long-pressing the Action menu will automatically shortcut to whatever the first action listed is. So if you rearrange it so that Saved posts is the first action, your saved posts will always be 1 long-press away!

  • When you use the search in Liftoff, it takes you to pick an instance that you’re searching from. It should hypothetically be a search through all the posts that insurance knows about, meaning everything on the insurance and all instances it is federated with.

In-browser, I know that Lemmy.world allows you to search among your instance’s communities or among all (known, federated) communities. It would be nice if that were an in-app option.
