I got molested by my dad’s friend when I was fifteen, and my dad invited him to my sixteenth birthday a few months later. I had a temper tantrum and smashed my cake on the ground and cried all night, but to this day have never told anyone why I was so upset.

I bought a milkshake on a beach boardwalk a couple weeks ago, as a treat, cuz I was at the beach, yknow, why not. The last time I had a milkshake was probably this time last year. They only offered one size, 20 oz. I would have preferred less, but whatever. My friend got a single scoop in a cup. About a third of the way into my shake, she was done w her scoop, and i did not want to eat anymore milkshake, but I also didn’t want to be wasteful, so I ate the rest of it, but it was not good anymore. It was too much sugar, and then my tummy hurt haha. Her lil scoop was the perfect amount and cost less than my stupid thing.

Sorry, you didn’t ask for this anecdote. It was all to say: I agree with you, sure they taste good, kinda, but only for a minute and then the suffering comes.

My grandpa’s life partner came into his life after my dad was an adult but before I was born, so she’s been in the family longer than I have. She never wanted to be called anything other than her first name, but by all measures, she is my grandma, and I love her. So I’ve had the typical grandma/grandpa names for mine, but I also have an Izzy, and that’s really special to me.

It’s called the scrub mommy because it has a soft side :)

Also it does 2x the work for less money than the scrub daddy costs. I didn’t make that up either, but it’s true, they’re cheaper, and that’s very funny.

This is the original meaning of the phrase “the customer is always right”. It’s been warped by “karen” types into a weapon used against minimum wage workers, but what it’s supposed to mean is “the customer is always right in matters of taste”. Meaning if a company doesn’t want to do something because they think it’s dumb but the demographic says “I like that” then the customer is right, and the company should do it. I know the dwarf tag isn’t about money, but it’s still a matter of listening to the customers on the platform.

I used to babysit a little girl who, if she saw someone in a skirt or dress, would run up to them and say, “Hey! Hey! Um. Does your dress spin?” And of course, even strangers knew the only correct response was to perform the most elaborate twirl and make that dress spin. Now, over a decade later, when I’m shopping for dresses, I always give them a test spin to make sure they’re wooshy enough.

I mean you’re not far off, -280 plus -145, plus -37 overdraft fee for each of those automatic withdraws that came out before the check deposits in a few hours, even tho they’ll all be dated 8/25 on my bank statement. The 280 said “pending” since before midnight, went negative at 12 on the dot, the 145 came out at 3am, and the checks don’t go in til 9 :')

I still don’t fully understand the fediverse, but I’m starting to. I know that the .world or the .ml or the .ee or whatever are the “instances” and that I can see all the stuff on all of them even tho I use .world. I am sure I will understand it better once I can start using sync again (or at least start understanding it in the capacity in which I’ll be using it). How do I support an instance? I’m also a broke bitch and don’t have a ton of disposable income, but reddit was and lemmy now is a service I appreciate and rely on, so I want to support the people providing said service, although I’m so grateful that I’ve been able to use sync for free for essentially the last decade.

I’m excited and pre-registered. I didn’t pay for sync for reddit, but now that I am more educated about the life of developers and third party apps, I will def pay for sync for lemmy. I have heard good things about some of the existing apps, but I have just been using the web browser while I wait for the sync app to be ready, and I am so ready to download and use it. <3
