Happy Halloween.
There is no afterlife.
So don’t waste your precious time sitting in a pew feeling bad about yourself.
It’s been a long time, but I was in a dance troupe as a kid and we performed at Disney World in the late 90’s. I’m not sure if they still do it, but when you traveled to perform there, they put your troupe name and the members’ names in the park program for the day.
My mom and I took the tram back to the park at dusk every night we were there to get a milkshake and watch the fireworks. TBH, those were some pretty neat experiences.
DW was a neat place before it got enshittified.
Nailed it.
Both parties are heavily funded by the 0.01%, and that’s neither a lie nor a coincidence.
That’s a good point.
For my part it’s a perception of an increase, but there are definitely things happening that haven’t been happening historically. For instance, this week there were five local businesses hit overnight in the River Market area. That kind of brazen criminal activity is unusual.
I can confirm that the Betty Rae’s Ice Cream shop has never been broken into twice in a six-month period, though, and that’s what got me frustrated.
It’s not like there’s any meaningful consequence if he is lying.
On a macro level, yes.
On a micro level, no. There’s been a lot more petty crime, especially targeting small businesses. The larger retailers can absorb those losses, the little local ice cream shop in my neighborhood that’s been broken into twice can’t.
Still, it’s important that cops be held accountable for murder, but I think Parson’s going to pardon the bastard once the election’s settled. They know it will be unpopular enough here in Kansas City that they can’t do it before, even if he’s a lame duck.
like believing a prosecutor is going to stand with the citizens instead of supporting cops
Also odd that we’re one of the few states that jailed a killer cop. KC is paying for it though. Cops here are determinedly lax on the job right now, and word on the street is they’re unmotivated because that cop’s still in prison.
I’m a Missourian and find this headline shocking. My state is doing everything it possibly can to disenfranchise unconventional people of every sort.
Good.

I s’pose.
But compared to the silly geese who take an extra mortgage out to dump into crypto every time it hits an ATH, it’s nothing.
I’d say it’s remarkable that Trump is even still able to run for president, but all this country seems to care about is social issues, and that clearly makes it easier to control people.
I have a friend in NY who lost a thumb drive with bitcoin on it in 2011. Every year or two he goes a little nuts and searches his entire apartment for it, but obviously has never found it. I think he threw it away and doesn’t remember, but the exercise of searching helps him exorcise the demons.
I put about 10% of my investment portfolio in bitcoin, personally. It’s way too volatile, at least for me, to go in big, but I can trust that every 3-4 years people are going to go insane buying it and the price will spike. If you’re already invested you can benefit.
The block feature works on Mastodon as it does most places. Lemmy seems to be the only weird place where blocking isn’t a fully-featured option.
That wasn’t my experience, even with the various compatibility tools.
A lot do though.
When I ran a dual-boot over June and July last summer only about 60% of my library functioned, so for me, it’s just not feasible to go entirely without Windows.
As a gamer, I’m always going to have at least one Windows PC.
But I’m planning to upgrade next month, and turn my old PC into a non-gaming Linux rig for all non-gaming purposes.
My absentee ballot finally came this week. I’m so excited to get my vote in and be done with all of this nonsense.
Fair point. I’ll delete my comment.
