But why would they even need their target market to switch? They needed to also do online shopping: with their existing distribution, their existing catalog, their existing delivery or in-store pickup. They already had most of the pieces so just needed the online part to bring in new customers or keep customers from switching

Which is crazy, because pre-Amazon Sears was exactly the place that had everything, especially appliance repair and parts. They never did have computer stuff but I wouldn’t use Amazon for that either.

I’m not entirely sure how i feel about that: spending the same on educating all students is surely a good thing and I’m sure this benefitted more than it hurt. However, the punishment for deciding to spend even more seems inappropriate. If I disagree that we’re spending enough on education and can get my neighbors to agree, but not the state, why shouldn’t we be able to spend more on our kids, until the rest of the state is persuaded.

It’s not just about fairly allocating spending per student and fairly shouldering the tax burden, but politics. Some towns want to spend more on education

I just discovered some leaking so I no longer have that. It really drives home the point that these need regular, if rare, attention. Also that plastic not only seeps into the water with time, but the jugs eventually degrade enough to leak

I don’t know how yu do this when so much school funding is local. I’ve always lived in areas that valued education agiin and we’re willing to pay for it. However no matter how much my taxes increase, it won’t help those kids in places with less money or not willing to invest in it.

It’s a much bigger ask to turn school funding into a national thing.

Where do these questions even come from? Unless ts a challenge like peeing off a cliff, why would anyone care? Why would it even come up in conversation? Aside from one guy on Lemmy, who even brings it up?
