Just eat something else holy shit.

I get that the price of eggs is shorthand for the price of all food, which has gone up, but eggs specifically have gotten so expensive that egg substitute is about the same price at this point.

Sometimes it’s just okay though. To have a commonly understood simplification of a societal problem to meme about with others to share the pain or burden of the problem with.

I haven’t bought a carton of eggs since 2023 because I refuse to buy them once they’re higher than $2.50 a dozen.

That’s dumb. 2.50 is not a sustainable price. If you get local eggs from a humane farm, they are going to be expensive. It’s just how it is man. If anything, that should cause you using them wiser.

Legumes like beans, lentils, peas, hummus, chickpeas,

Oats, quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat, whole wheat products,

Tofu in its various forms, including silk tofu as egg replacement in pancakes,

Other “meat substitutes” like seitan or sunflower seed mince,

        Nuts, nut butters, nut flour,

Dairy products such as cottage cheese, joghurt,

        Soy milk

I mean for real, eggs are super unnecessary for a protein rich or healthy diet. I would argue that unless you literally want to treat yourself with a sunny side up or an omelette you shouldn’t be using eggs at all. I like eggs, but a dozen lasts us (family of 3) a month easily.

Proteins are formed from amino acids and it is actually harder for you to assimilate when ingested as already assembled animal proteins as it needs to be broken down and rebuilt by your body. You can get all the aminos you need from vegetable sources such as potatoes, nuts, legumes, leafy greens etc.

Ignore the legumes suggestion, it’s nasty af and makes most people’s stomachs bloated and inflammed (which gives gas and is the reason there are so many jokes on legumes giving people gas). Eat fish, nuts, artisanal cheeses (very low lactose compared to other cheeses) or even just homemade jerky. Good for the brain and no bloating unless you have some diagnosed gut diseases.

For those who can’t be bothered to read my replies, proof of legumes irritating the stomach of many people, causing bloating, causing gas and even pain:

Stay educated. You don’t HAVE to eat legumes, you can get fiber and essential nutrients in many other foods which is why I recommended other healthy foods, which don’t cause physical discomfort or pain.

A - not everyone has issues with legumes, don’t project your personal issues on everyone. B - just take a beano pill beforehand if you do have issues.

Mystery meat? Are you ignorant? You can make jerky at home with fresh meat yourself, that’s why I said homemade jerky. Gotta love vegans downvoting this out of ignorance. Artisanal cheeses are very good for you too and fish is great omega 3s. Legumes irritate many people’s stomachs. Way to dismiss the reality of eating legumes.

You never eat vegetables, do you? Much of the world lives off legumes. Having these issues with their digestion is caused by a poor gut microbiome from eating an extremely low-fiber diet.

I do eat vegetables, simply not legumes as they give me gas and bloating (and I’m not the only one it happens to, it’s so common, there’s a reason comedians joke about eating them and farting). Can we stop pretending legumes don’t cause gas and bloating? 😂 As if me pointing it out means I don’t eat veggies, gtfo here.

            "Fiber makes you bloat

Beans are just one example of high fiber foods. When you eat a ton of fiber, you increase your chances of bloating, stomach pain and gas."

            https://health.clevelandclinic.org/why-do-beans-make-you-fart

It’s not even hard to find this out. Btw it’s beans AND legumes in general that do this (the article mentions it and this is not the only source that says this). Happy reading.

In my experience your body gets used to high fiber content. It’s only when you don’t eat legumes regularly that they cause issues, now that I’m eating them several times a day there’s no bloating.
