Except that is not really true…

Trump may not be in line with your political beliefs but somehow I doubt all of the crazy stuff I’ve heard said. He isn’t creating death camps or deporting democrats to Mexico.

Project 2025 is now in play. Abortion ban, porn ban, removal of federal employees who aren’t “loyal” enough. The only saving grace is that Republicans can’t govern for shit, so there’s going to be a lot of wasted time on infighting. Not enough, though, since a lot of it can be pushed through by the president alone.

Oh! And the oldest, most conservative SCOTUS justices will retire, solidifying the conservative super-majority on the court for the next 20-40 years. The only way to change that is to change the makeup of the court, which requires a trifecta. So yes, it isn’t the end of the world, but it isn’t “no big deal” either.

In order to undo the damage, we have to fundamentally change the Democrat Party to be just as far left as the Republicans have moved right. And that took them over a decade to accomplish (and they have the easier task, since big business wants both parties to move right).

In think the democrats moving far left is what caused them to lose at least in part. The swing voters are what matters. The Trump and Republican really pushed a down to Earth approach which resonated will a lot of people on the fence. Your hard core left and right are going to vote predictably.

The good news is that the Democrat party will have plenty of time to think about it.
