I wonder why it wants network access
I’ve looked through the repo and it seems to be used to check for the current OpenRazer version and to get a list of supported devices and download images of them from Razer servers.
This is cool but I like OpenRGB better since it includes more than just specifically razer products
This also handles the device settings and open-razer driver, it’s more than just RBG control. I use it to set polling rate and DPI, my mouse doesn’t have rbg, either.
awesome! now i can get one of these keyboards; thanks for sharing.
Razer keyboard are pretty overpriced for what you get IMO, they’re better than they used to be but I would honestly consider alternatives first. Still if you’re considering Razer, check the compatibility chart before buying! https://polychromatic.app/devices/
i hadn’t occurred to me to use an alternative; are you aware of any linux compatible ones?
Keyboards in general? Or RGB keyboards? I think all keyboards work fine for core functionality. It depends on what you are looking for out of a “gaming” keyboard. The big makers mostly have alternative software to program rgb and re-keybinds for keys as far as I’ve seen. I know corsair has a good alt software for both binds and rgb, Razer obviously from this post, and I think steelseries has one but can’t remember off the top of my head
At least for the RGB portion, I would also look into OpenRGB! Although I don’t have RGB keyboards, I do have lots of RGB in my computer that I sync up using it. They also have a compatibility list for their supported hardware, including a keyboard filter too
The only thing that matters to me is the ability to assign colors to keys.
That’s fair, if you’re just looking for RGB control and don’t care about mechanical switches or macro keys and stuff, then I would check out what @[email protected] said about openrgb and see what works and is a decent price.
I’m partial to corsair right now, and have had Razer stuff in the past. Both are fine, though still probably (at least slightly) overpriced for what you get. Either way, I don’t think you’ll regret any of the big makers.
Anybody know of a program that would let me remap the keys on the razr naga? I’ve been using this to deal with the rgb, but would really like to edit the mouse button mappings (not averse to running a virtual machine to do it, if it’s one off, or maybe in bottles if that works).
Have you tried antimicrox I don’t have experience with that mouse in particular but it has worked for other mice
I start a windows virtual machine, could not find an alternative for Linux. I did find one for the corsair scimitar but as a mouse it did not last long enough. I’d like to try the Logitech g600 but it’s hard to find
Edit: yeah it’s one off for switching you don’t need to keep it running
